Our Team

Rory Farragher (Group General Manager)

Over the last 3 years of heavily going back into the Beef Industry i have had to adapt quick, learn and set our families vision and goals for the future. When Dad passed away, we decided that the generations of Beef Farming from both sides of the family was to continue.

The three months leading up to buying properties and heavily increasing our herd size 10-fold i completed huge amount of research and aligning with leading Studs to create the premium Beef Cattle we now offer the public.

Whilst the first two years where very challenging for Brittany and i with only the two of us and friends helping out on the farm, its become clear to us now on what we want to achieve, and we have the right people and partners to take this operation to a leading Angus Stud and Carcass sale entity.

At my current stage of life, i consider myself fortunate and wealthy, and wealthy is a key word, i don’t relate wealth to money. I relate it to what we have, my wife Brittany that forms a key part of our success is a wonderful, and highly accomplished individual in what she has taken on and created so far in her life. My four beautiful children, Adelaide, Jenson, Etelka and Olympia have great health and sporting ability.

We live in a wonderful part of the world, and we are blessed to call Williams River in Seaham our home.

For those that want to know a bit about me, I am very passionate about my hobbies being cars / motorsport. Many know now i am supporting my Son in his motorsport dreams, currently kart racing and hopefully beyond in coming years. We thoroughly enjoy water skiing and been on the boat, i love here at home and up at Myall Lakes (Neranie) where my family has been going for 50 years.

I am a passionate foody, i love My well-cooked Angus Steak and dry aged (Which we do at home), cooking 14 hour slow cooked beef shin tacos at home and having all our best friend’s over. Doesn’t get much better i don’t think

When we go out, we love supporting what Maitland has to offer, with two restaurants our regulars. My other favourite has to be sushi, i have been following a good friend of mine Yick around sydney for 20 + years. There is no fresher produce or better made then what this guy can do. If ever you’re in Sydney, i can certainly suggest this place.

We are a passionate family, that puts 100% into every day, we aim to strive for the best of our ability. By taking this approach you achieve more every day, and year to create a bright future for those that surround us. We want to create inspiration in the Hunter that you can achieve whatever you inspire to do.

Tackle it at a combined unit, back yourselves when no one else is, head up when times are tough, and move forward with those that share your mission. By doing this you will create an exceptional life full of memories.

My last quote, there is no time like now, don’t wait, don’t put it off. Time with family and friends is a key now, one thing i am proud of is i always create time for people.

Brittany Farragher

We have heavily invested in some of the best bulls in the country through Texas Angus with a focus on ease of calving, and exceptional 200, 400 and 600 day growth rates. This can already be seen in the weaners we have coming through, that were sired by some of the Texas bulls.

Our main goal is to produce structurally sound, strong cattle with the best temperament possible that will do well in any climate. We aim to raise and sell the highest quality females to the greater Hunter and NSW area and raise top weaner steers that then head to our irrigation property to be grass fed to a weight range of 500-550kg ready to go straight into processing. When purchasing Banamba Angus steers, they will know they are receiving the highest quality grass fed beef in the area with a focus on top quality genetics.

In our early tenure we brought a solid heard of Waverly cattle, whilst not our largest framed cows, they have impeccable structures, are wonderful mothers and have a quiet temperament.

Over the last 18 months we have purchased some key blood lines, with large heard of Hazldene 4 year old cows joining in early 2023 and our most recent purchase this year of Temania full blood cows. These girls pushed our scales with some hitting over 800kg.

This leads us to our most important herd that resides with us at Seaham, majority of our stud cows come from Jim and Sally Tickle, owners of SugarLoaf Angus. Jims females are the epitome of femine, strong framed cows with quiet temperaments, these will add huge power to our herd. We also have some Scotts Angus cows which also reside with us at Seaham to make a powerful stud herd who will grow and sustain our genetic pool.

Cameron Young (Property and Stud Manager)

Cameron has a rich history considering his young age in agriculture.

Since finishing year 12 at Farrer Agriculture High School, he has had passion for all things agriculture, weather that be Diary or Beef Farming.

Growing up we had a family dairy farm at Muswellbrook which i managed for 7 years before selling in 2022.

Since taking on the management role here at Banamba Angus in January 2024, my love for all things farming has continued to grow. The joy of being able to live on site at our Aberdeen farm “Mawarra” with my wife and kids enables me to teach my family the importance of farming both in cattle and cropping.

In my spare time you will find me coaching and playing rugby for the Muswellbrook Heelers, at the pub with mates or at home with my beautiful family.

I believe my dedication to my family, and our Angus operation is helping to set our team up for great success over the coming years.

Shaun Burgess (Property and Stud Supervisor)

My name is Shaun, i have been in the farming industry ever since i was old enough to walk. For as for back as my personal family tree goes, we all have horse blood running through our veins.

I enjoy being able to nurture something so sweet and innocent, into something big, bold and magnificent such as horses, cattle, dogs.
