Our Journey
Farming and cattle are are embedded in Banamba Angus’ DNA. Whilst the Banamba name is recent, our family history stems back to 1970 when John Farragher (Snr) brought his breeder cows (Hereford and Charloias), although not Angus, it set the foundation for where John (Jnr) would take his cattle operation in later years.
On the other side of our family, Steven Forgacs began expanding his small cattle operation at ‘Banamba’ in Seaham to purchase Kuloo Station in Cassalis and a decade later the famous Colaroy Station. By doing so setting the foundation to grow and prosper his Angus herd, and set tone for one of the most impressive operations within Merriwa district.
Banamba stands for Change, and Change is exactly what we are doing. Our Seaham property located on the beautiful Williams River was purchased in 1970s by Etelka and Steven Forgacs, it has served as a home and retreat for our family for many years. Over the last decade it has served as a home for Brittany and I, where we are raising our four young children.
In March 2022 my wonderful father John Farragher passed away. During the months leading up to his sudden passing, Mum and Dad were in discussion of increasing their operation which was between Brandy Hill and Seaham into a much larger operation.
In June 2022 we as a family decided to jump head first into increasing Dads existing herd and continue building a life changing, top quality Angus operation in the upper Hunter.
We purchased ‘Bundaleer South’ and ‘neighbouring’ property ‘Tank Mountain’ at the same time in the Singleton district and have since added irrigation properties ‘Mawarra’ and ‘Wilson’ in the Scone district.
Whilst we were acquiring the land to accommodate our growing herd size we turned our focus to building and maintaining relationships with the top angus cattle breeders in the industry.
